Beige 02:56
Beige I’m afraid of beige and what it can do I’m afraid of beige and what it’s done to you You live in a world neither here nor there You live in a world where all you care about is beige I’m afraid of beige it’s a neutral hue It don’t say nothin’ like black or blue Yellow, orange, purple or red make you feel alive But now I feelin’ brain dead from all this beige, beige Your house is beige, your car is beige, your couch is beige nd so are your clothes Nothing bothers you girl you’re cool and composed But inside your head you rant and rage Screaming silently while you’re drowning in beige, beige But everything’s gonna be just fine now Everything’s gonna be alright All you needed was a little brown now A little brown and a whole lotta white make beige Gold shows that you’ve got money Grey shows that you’ve got age Nobody’s green with envy You locked yourself inside a cage Painted beige, beige I’m afraid of beige, it’s subtle but strong I’m afraid of beige, it’s a one note song Music & Lyrics c by John Kruth Sonic Kruth/BMI 2021

After the Carnival My true love is weeping After the carnival Sweeping confetti Up day after day Joy is so fleeting After the carnival Alone in her room, oh That’s where she’ll stay Gray is the sky After the carnival Pale is her face As a winter’s day The trumpets fall silent After the carnival The drums have no thunder The banjo won’t play After the carnival Nobody sings Callooh! Callay! After the carnival The wind blows all our memories away Her mask lies abandoned After the carnival She’s given up whiskey And feathers for Lent Her costume lies crumpled After the carnival But one day those shoes Will dance again Music & Lyrics c by John Kruth Sonic Kruth/BMI 2021

The Virgin Gets Around The Virgin gets around The Virgin gets around I’ve seen her in the city At the beach, all over town Seen her in a painting On a postage stamp The Virgin gets around But she ain’t no tramp Obliterating evil Faster than a gun The Virgin’s really cool And so is her son No matter what they say No matter what they write The Virgin’s always there All the day and through the night She’s been to Ireland and Mexico Where she’ll show up next, nobody knows She’s been to Portugal and Medjugorje Believe it or not, that’s the story of The Virgin gets around The Virgin gets around I’ve seen her in a Chevy In a robe and golden crown Sometimes she’s all in green Sometimes in white and blue Some say she’s a myth Some say that it’s true Floating in the clouds With her two feet on the ground Her tears they fall like rain While her sacred heart it pounds No matter what they say No matter what they write The Virgin’s always there All the day and through the night Giving hope to the homeless Hungry and the lame Crying for the president Who’s really gone insane Obliterating evil faster than a gun The Virgin’s really cool And so is her son Music & Lyrics c by John Kruth Sonic Kruth/BMI 2021

The Theater Called I was standing on the ledge With a rope around my neck When the theater called But they called collect For a walk on part I’d sell my soul To be the leading man Just gimme the role A roll with butter And a couple of eggs And coffee black Oh, don’t make me beg Yeah, the theater called But they didn’t call back And I’ve seen the future We’re all wearing black Is it a play? Or is it for real? Oh, what’s the difference? It’s how you feel When the curtain goes up And the bright lights shine For a couple of hours You can leave it all behind When the music ends And the curtain comes down We all wind up In a hole in the ground So, write a new play With your soul on each page And never give up Until you find the next stage When the theater calls And you’re waiting to hear So, you sit at the bar Drinking whiskey and beer Wined and dined By a couple of backers Who think they look better Surrounded by actors Yeah, the theater called But they called collect Yeah, the theater called But they didn’t call back When the theater calls And you’re waiting to hear When the theater calls Drinking whiskey and beer Music & Lyrics c by John Kruth Sonic Kruth/BMI 2021

Song for Rick (Danko) He came from Canada Sang harmony and played the bass guitar Drivin’ round the country Playin’ rhythm and blues In an old rusty van He led the life he chose Oh he came from Canada He left Ontario Another kid who Lived for rock n roll The world swirled around him In a neon haze Of cheap motels and fun-house faces He left Ontario 18 years of playin’ in the Band Money like water Poured through his hands Drugs and women, they took their toll Greed and suicide nearly froze his soul I met him on the road He was hungry and tired Of carryin’ that heavy load He played the fiddle We sang some songs Drank some Southern Comfort And stayed up til dawn Oh, I met him on the road Music & Lyrics c by John Kruth Sonic Kruth/BMI 2021

The Bottle Man The Bottle Man of the beyond Is standing on my corner In his hat and overcoat Like a crazy scarecrow He pushes his shopping cart That clangs and bangs and rattles Like a soldier’s ghost Marching home from battle The Bottle Man of the beyond Once he had a sweetheart But she froze to death one winter’s night Sleeping outside the ballpark Now people pass him by As he laughs and howls and swears As he hoards his earthly treasure Like a ragged millionaire The Bottle Man of the beyond He came from out of nowhere And one day soon, by summer’s end He’s scheduled to return there Now he’s digging through the trash And he sleeps in a burned-out car But he’s only passing through On his journey to the stars All Hail The Bottle Man! Strange Changes There’s a burger king on the hillside Where the strawberries used to grow And planes circle above me Like giant mosquitoes Whatever happened to this town Nobody seems to know Strange how things change, oh yeah Some buy their dreams with money Some pray at the savior’s feet In the land of guns and honey How do you spell relief With 2 million homeless people Living on the street Strange how things change, oh yeah Strange changes, strange changes Strange times Pray you don’t lose your mind Now the president’s a wise guy Trying to act cute Has he lost his mind Or left it in his other suit We don’t need a TV star Just someone to tell the truth Strange how things change, oh yeah Music & Lyrics c by John Kruth Sonic Kruth/BMI 2021

Another You 04:11
Another You I am another you A Pagan, a Christian, a Muslim, a Hindu, and Jew Black, white, red, yellow or brown We come in all colors, we share common ground Give me your hand, the time has now come Your laugh is a song, your heart is the drum Your laugh is a song, your heart is the drum I, oh I, am another you What we’re all doing here, I haven’t a clue The dawn may be dark, but there’s light in your eyes Is it peace that you want? Only you can decide What brings us together? What tears us apart? Don’t turn your head, just open your heart No, don’t run and hide, just open your heart I am another you A Rasta, a Buddhist, an Agnostic and a Ghost Dancer too The words to this song won’t stop any wars It’s happening now, it happened before Brothers will fight, their mothers will cry Let’s stop all this hate before one more dies Let’s stop all this hate before one more dies I am another you A Christian, a Muslim, a Hindu and a Zen prankster too Black, white, red, yellow or brown Peace is the word and Om is the sound (Om) Give me your hand, the time has now come Your laugh is a song, your heart is the drum Your laugh is a song, your heart is the drum Your laugh is a song, your heart is the drum Your laugh is a song, your heart is the drum Music & Lyrics c by John Kruth/Sonic Kruth BMI 2021

Anything 03:51
Anything Pickin’ up broken glass with bare fingers I’d do anything in the world for you Make a soup of rusty nails and shingles Even eat the rubber sole of my shoe I’m standin’ atop a ladder I’m washin’ the windows of my soul This sad world is getting sadder Just tickle my ribs till I lose control Runnin’ out for Chinese food in a snowstorm I’d do anything in the world for you Tattoo your dog’s face on my forearm Even use my toothbrush to paint your bathroom blue You keep playin’ hard to get yeah Just slippin’ away like the setting sun Our love is like a cigarette There’s nothin’ but ashes when it’s done Every time I try to nail you down I just beat myself up with the hammer You walk by dressed to kill And find me lounging on the sofa In my polka dot pajamas Music & Lyrics c by John Kruth - Sonic Kruth/BMI 2021

Wild is the Way In the jungle, roams the tiger Proud and mighty, swift and graceful Oh, she is not afraid, she is not afraid For wild is the tiger’s way Across the ocean darts the dolphin Sleek and silver, free and laughing Oh, she is not afraid, she is not afraid For wild is the dolphin’s way What became of civilization Run amok by our ambition Growing lazy with each convenience Outsmarted again by our own genius In the forest, plays the monkey In the treetops, swinging joyfully Oh, she is not afraid, she is not afraid For wild is the monkey’s way On the mountain, dwells the Buddha In a cold cave, with his mind blazing He is not afraid, he is not afraid For wild is the Buddha’s way Music & Lyrics c by John Kruth - Sonic Kruth/BMI 2021

Lunatic Angelhead Lunatic Angelhead Lays around all day in bed Watching faces on the wall Hearing voices in the hall Lunatic Angelhead And when the dogs bark he hears poetry And when the taxis honk its modern jazz He knows nothing is as it appears Nothing is as it appears (x3) Lunatic Angelhead Playing chess with his invisible friend They speak Russian and French Eat turnips for lunch Lunatic Angelhead Some say that he’s a fool, some think he’s wise Cause when the tulips bloom he starts to cry Cause everything is beautiful And every snowflake is a jewel Everything is holy holy Everything is holy holy Lunatic angelhead, lunatic angelhead Music& Lyrics c by John Kruth - Sonic Kruth/BMI 2021 Lunatic angel, lunatic angel, lunatic angelhead

People from France Eating Watermelon When she walks her shadow dances Like a white tail deer or a praying mantis She dreams of people from France eating watermelon When she smiles the gods steal glances Ravens weep and children fall into trances She dreams of people from France eating watermelon And the winds sighs like a pedal steel guitar And coyotes howl loud and out of tune And the ducks land gently on the pond And the sun’s going down ‘cause more stars gotta shine She spends her days baking gingerbread buddhas Gazing out the window and riding appaloosas She dreams of people from France eating watermelon She wears the moon like a high school ring Or a glowing jack o’lantern on Hallowe’en She dreams of people from France eating watermelon Music & Lyrics c by John Kruth - Sonic Kruth BMI - 2021

From Robert Christgau's Consumer Guide Reviews:
Love Letters From the Lazaretto [self-released, 2021]
Assume the "carnival" left behind on this multitracked solo recording's most fetching tune is the pre-Covid paradise where music makers could congregate at the drop of a text, phone call, or plane ticket ("After the Carnival," "The Virgin Gets Around") **
